CORRECT, CONCEAL, & CONQUER

When it comes to creating a flawless base, two essential concepts to understand are concealing and neutralising. While they’re often confused or used interchangeably, they serve very different purposes and understanding when to use each can seriously upgrade your makeup game.
Concealer: For Coverage
Think of concealer as your camouflage tool. It’s designed to hide blemishes, dark circles, and imperfections by blending into your natural skin tone.
- When to use it: After foundation, to add extra coverage in areas where you need it.
- What it does: Matches your skin tone to conceal spots without changing your skin’s colour.
- Best for: Pimples, mild redness, uneven patches, and brightening under the eyes.
This is when you would reach for Concealer Cube, Brush-On Concealer, Digital Complexion Concealer, Concealer Wheel 1.
Tip: Choose a concealer shade that’s one to two shades lighter than your foundation for under-eye brightening, or a perfect match for blemishes.
Neutraliser: For Colour Correction
Neutralisers (also called colour correctors) are all about cancelling out discoloration using colour theory. Instead of blending in, they counteract unwanted tones.
- When to use it: Before foundation, to balance skin tone.
- What it does: Uses opposite colours on the colour wheel to neutralize specific issues.
- Best for:
- Green neutraliser: Cancels out redness (acne, rosacea).
- Peach/orange: Brightens blue/purple under-eye circles on medium to deep skin.
- Pink: Brightens dullness in lighter skin tones.
- Yellow: Neutralises purple tones and brightens sallow complexions.
- Purple/lavender: Cancels out yellow undertones or sallowness.
This is when you would reach for the Concealer Wheel (Australia), Concealer Duo, Digital Complexion Neutralizer, Ultra Make-up base.
Tip: Use a small amount and blend well—you’re neutralizing, not painting!

Quick Recap:
-
Concealer = skin-toned, for covering what’s already close to your natural colour.
-
Neutraliser = colour-based, for correcting noticeable discoloration before you even conceal.
Using both correctly can make a huge difference in achieving a truly even, radiant complexion. Just remember, neutralise first, conceal second, then blend everything into perfection!
